FMCSA Compliance Program
for Alabama Motor Carriers

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is the agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) responsible for regulating the nation's trucking industry.  Its goal is the reduction of wrecks, injuries, and fatalities caused by or involving large trucks and buses.

Motor carriers that cross state lines are subject to the FMCSA's system of safety regulations.  These regulations seek to ensure that motor carrier businesses operate as safely as possible.  For instance, an interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver must receive medical certification from an FMCSA-approved medical examiner.  CMV drivers have to meet qualification standards and have proof that they qualify.  In addition to this, CMV drivers must undergo periodic testing intended to prevent illegal drug and alcohol use.  The FMCSA also conducts roadside inspections to check for safety violations and crash investigations that look into the causes of trucking-related accidents.

Stay Compliant with FMCSA

Regulations in Alabama

When a trucking business fails to comply with FMCSA regulations, the results can be serious.  Depending on the circumstances and type of violation, the consequences can include an in-depth investigation by the DOT, costly fines or penalties, legal action, or possibly even having your operations shut down for an indefinite length of time.

Trying to stay on top of your FMCSA compliance can be time-consuming and frustratingly convoluted.  There are many things to remember and arrange—and this is all in addition to the ordinary daily demands of running a motor carrier business.  However, staying compliant with DOT regulations isn't something you can afford to let slide.  It's too big a risk to your business' valuable reputation and security.  Avoid mistakes, oversights, and other potentially disastrous problems with compliance by hiring Alabama's trustworthy and experienced compliance experts—Transportation Safety Services.
